The protests launched by South Indian fishermen on March 6th, alleging that one of their fellowmen died after being shot at by a Sri Lankan Navy officer, were called off.

The protests were suspended following discussions they had with Indian Central government ministers Nirmala Seetharaman and Pon Radha-Krishnan.

Pilgrims from Tamil Nadu missed out on participating in the annual feast of St. Anthony’s church at Kachchathivu Island this year due to the protests.
